Eiderdown is the softest and highest insulating down in the world. It is light in weight and becomes warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Its insulating capacity is so advanced that it even adjusts to the temperature of the person under the duvet. While Eiderdown tests at 700 loft, its unique high density and cling make it insulate at a much higher rate and many consider it more efficient than an 1000 loft down.

Eiderdown is down that comes from wild Eider ducks. These ducks live and nest in arctic and subarctic coastal marine areas. Female Eider ducks carefully pluck down from their breasts and use it to build their nests. Eiderdown is carefully collected directly from Eider nests in small portions without harming or disturbing the birds. Proceeds from the collection and sale of Eiderdown contribute to Eider habitat protection to ensure the birds have a safe place to nest each year.

The density and cling of Eiderdown supersedes loft as an indicator of quality; this incredible down insulates at an equivalent of 1000 loft down. EIDER HABITAT PROTECTION

We get all of our Eiderdown from the Société Duvetnor; a wildlife sanctuary located in Quebec, Canada on the St. Lawrence River. For each Eiderdown product that St Genève produces a donation is made towards the continued preservation of wild Eider ducks and their habitat.
